Access is granted per site and per app, not per account. Somebody can read one site and know nothing about the others.
Two levels
View reads the reports. This is what a new member gets.
Manage does everything View can do, plus change the site's settings and the settings of its products.
That is the whole list. There is no third level, and no way to grant part of one.
What stays with the owner
Manage is not ownership. Whatever you grant, these remain with the owner alone:
- Deleting the site or app
- Adding and removing members
- Creating API tokens
- Creating shared dashboard links
Ownership itself is not a membership that can be handed over in the members list. It is the single answer to who pays for the site, whose plan it draws on, and whose credits its traffic spends, so it deliberately has one place to live.
Access fails closed
Every unanswerable question resolves to no access at all: no signed-in user, an id nobody recognises, a membership that does not exist. There is no state in which an unclear answer becomes permission.
Member or shared link?
Add a member when the person needs their own sign-in, will come back, and should see the reports as they change: a colleague, a contractor you work with regularly.
Use a shared dashboard link when they need to look once, or when they should not have an account at all: a client, an investor, a public stats page. See sharing a dashboard.
The difference that usually decides it: a member is a person you can remove individually, and a link is a secret that works for whoever holds it.
